Access Statement for the School House, 7 Old School Court, Padstow, Cornwall.

This access statement does not contain personal opinions as to our suitability for those with access needs, but aims to accurately describe the facilities and services that we offer all our guests/visitors.

Introduction

The School House is a Grade 2 listed property, built in 1876 and originally provided accommodation for the Headmaster and his family. The property is attached to the old school classrooms, which were converted to residential accommodation in 1993.

Pre-Arrival

Basic information on the School House can be obtained from the Padstow Tourist Information Guide and also from the web site http://www.theschoolhousepadstow.co.uk. Enquiries can be made by phone or email or in writing if preferred (see contact information at the end of this statement).

Nearest bus stop is located on New Street approximately 100 yards distant.

Nearest main line train station is Bodmin Parkway and is 21 miles distant.

Nearest airport is Newquay International and is 9 miles distant.

Mobile telephone signal – good for most networks

Nearest public telephone located at The Custom House on the harbour quay.

Arrival & Car parking facilities

There is a clearly labelled private car parking space to the rear of the property. Additional visitor spaces are usually available and are located at the front of the property. A plan clearly showing these spaces is displayed on the notice board at the School House.

The front entrance to the property is via a brick path that has a 10cm high kerb. The external front door is 100cm wide and has an 8cm high step.

General note

Access internally – doors widths and walkways within the School House are not suitable for wheel chair users and are of a standard width only.

All windows have opening lower sashes only.

Entrance Hallway

Polished Victorian floor tiles with doors off to the Kitchen/breakfast room, the sitting room, ground floor toilet and laundry cupboard with washer /dryer.

Sitting Room

Large triple aspect open plan room with carpet floor covering, gas fired coal effect fire, and external door to the rear patio.

Kitchen/breakfast room

Vinyl floor covering. Fitted kitchen with standard height work tops and sink. Built in appliances include wine cooler, fridge with freezer compartment, electric fan oven, large gas hob, dishwasher. Work top appliances include microwave oven, coffee maker, toaster and electric kettle.

Large table and 6 chairs.

Downstairs Toilet

Vinyl floor covering. Standard height toilet and wash hand basin

Master Bedroom & en-suite

Carpet floor covering, standard height 5ft wide double bed, double wardrobe with drawer, bedside tables and lamps,TV.

En-suite shower room —-cm shower cubicle, standard height toilet and wash hand basin.

Front twin Bedroom

Carpet floor covering, full height arched feature sash windows, two standard height single beds each 3ft wide, large triple wardrobe with drawers, bedside table and lamps.

Rear twin Bedroom

Carpet floor covering, double aspect room, two standard height single beds each 3ft wide, single wardrobe, bedside cabinets and lamps

Bathroom

Vinyl floor covering, standard length/height bath fitted with grab handles, mixer taps with shower attachment. Standard height toilet and wash hand basin

Rear patio

Access via rear door from sitting room 90cm width, two 15 cm steps down to level brick patio. Table and seating for eight with umbrella. Gate to car parking space—-cm wide with 15 cm step down.
